Developing a relationship with the Sacred Directions helps us understand our place in the world and the spiritual relationships that support us. Through these connections, we begin to feel more grounded in our own power, more trusting of our relationship with Spirit and more confident in our ability to navigate the unseen worlds. This is foundational work in shamanic practice, bringing depth, protection and strength to the healing and journey work we undertake.

Over six weeks, we will explore East, South, West, North, Above and Below through shamanic journey, personal reflection and practices that deepen our connection with each direction. We will consider traditional understandings from different parts of the world while giving space for your own direct revelations. Your experiences with the directions and the allies you encounter will form the basis of a relationship that is uniquely yours.

Each direction offers opportunities to discover more about yourself, the spiritual support available to you and the ways you receive guidance. As these relationships develop, the directions become familiar points of connection, helping you orient yourself in both ordinary and non-ordinary reality. Knowing where you stand and who supports you creates a strong foundation from which to journey farther and explore more deeply.

Central to this course is the creation of your own invocation, a personal calling to Spirit that grows from these experiences. An invocation gives voice to your relationships with the directions and your spiritual allies. It is a way of entering sacred space, gathering support and calling upon guidance and protection with clarity and intention. You will be guided in developing the words and practices that hold meaning and power for you, with time between classes to work with what you discover.

While this work is foundational to shamanic practice, it offers meaningful support for anyone on a spiritually journey. Developing your own relationship with the Sacred Directions and learning to call upon Spirit can deepen your sense of connection, strengthen trust in your own guidance and bring greater confidence to your spiritual practice and daily life.

The relationships you build with the Sacred Directions become part of how you prepare for healing, hold ceremony and work with the many tools of the shamanic path.
